Majid Al Futtaim’s shopping malls in the UAE to raise flag with visitors in honour of nation’s founding fathers on Saturday

1st Nov 2018

• Shoppers can show solidarity by joining flag hoisting ceremony at the malls at 11am
• Matajer Al Juraina mall in Sharjah hosts special pop up market with Flag Day-themed crafts created by students of determination on November 3.

Majid Al Futtaim’s shopping malls in UAE - Mall of the Emirates, City Centres, My City Centres and Matajer malls in Sharjah – invites residents and tourists to raise the UAE flag with them, demonstrating unified patriotism and national pride on UAE Flag Day, November 3.

The day, established by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai in 2013 to celebrate the country’s past, present and future, coincides with the accession anniversary of the UAE President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to the presidency of the country.

The shopping malls will have a flag hosting ceremony on Saturday, November 3. The mall management and visitors will come together to raise a large flag with the rest of the country at 11am, celebrating the spirit of unity and successes of the country. They will also come alive with national pride with the malls’ façade draped in the UAE flag. Mall visitors will receive flags and scarves in the colours of the flag to celebrate the joyous occasion. The flags will remain up until December 2, the 47th UAE National Day.

With the aim of designing community initiatives that uphold the values of unity, empowerment and compassion imparted by the founding fathers of the nation, Matajer Al Juraina has collaborated with the Sharjah City of Humanitarian Services (SCHS) to host Flag Day workshops this week for talented students of determination in the emirate. The children will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and create Flag Day-themed items that will be sold in a special pop up market at the mall on November 3. All proceeds from the market will be donated to SCHS for the ongoing development and support of the students.
