Sharjah Islamic Bank was founded in 1975 by an Emiri decree issued by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah in the name of National Bank of Sharjah to provide corporate and retail commercial banking services, and since that time, the Bank is heading forward towards development and now has 31 branches situated in Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Fujairah, Khor Fakkan, Dibba Al Hisn, Kalba and Rak.
On the first of July 2002, the bank successfully completed the first transition process of its kind in the world, from being a conventional bank to be an Islamic bank offering sophisticated Islamic banking services. Further, top scholars of Islamic Sharia and jurisprudence, trainers and specialists in Islamic banking have trained the bank staff on new products and services. In line with this approach, the Bank has introduced special departments for ladies to ensure fluent and convenient conclusion of their transactions
The bank is keen on applying the principle of comprehensiveness to rendering services to all sectors of individuals, companies and institutions operating in the country
In recognition of its excellence in aspects of Emartization, quality, customer service, the Bank got numerous awards in the recent past years at the local, and world levels. The most prominent of these awards are:Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award and Dubai Quality Award and Sheikh Khalifa Award for Excellence and many other different Awards.
